


Written and Co-Produced by J. Dennis. 'Gee-Gee At Waterina, his first one-act play, won the Jimmy Y. Balacuit Award at the 2002 lligan National Writers Workshop and jump-started his foray into the theater world. The said play received a standing ovation when it eventually premiered at the 1st Virgin Lab Fest (2005) at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Lou Veloso earned an Aliw Award nomination for acting for his riveting portrayal of Waterina. Then, it was showcased by Tanghalang Pilipino, as part of a twinbill, and went on a successful national tour in 2006. Its short narrative film adaptation drew critical reviews at the Cinemalaya Independent Digital Film Festival and Pink Film Festival. Through the years, the play became a favorite thesis production piece in universities and a preferred fund-raising material for school- and community-based theater organizations. After 17 years it was screeded at CCP.
